This was it. The big day. Drake was nervous. He had no idea how this would turn out. First of all, Drake had only ever had small crushes on girls. Never something big enough to actually do anything to get the girl. Avery was special. Something about her immediately caught his attention, even back when he thought she was a he. Drake grew up telling himself to never say he loved someone because he would never be sure if it was love or not. Every time he was attracted to a girl, he told himself it was just a crush. Nothing more. When he met Avery, he told himself it was just a crush. One he wanted more than others. He'd wanted her to the point of going out with her, only to very quickly get rejected. Apparently, Drake couldn't take a hint and only wanted the girl more. Accidentally impregnating her with his baby didn't help him stop wanting her. In fact, he had very recently started going to the point of saying he really did love her. Drake didn't think there was any better feeling that what Avery gave him. So he thought it had to be love. He was sure it was. Every part of him yelled that it was.
The big problem now was whether or not he really had the guts to go through with his plan. He had everything he needed. The guitar was at his back and already well-tuned for the songs he had in mind. His voice was very ready. It always was. He might be on the verge of being a mute at times but his voice was always there when he needed to sing. What he needed now was the confidence. But he had sang in front of Ira and Elly. That had been easy. But this was Avery. Just being near this girl got his heart racing and he had to put effort into breathing for once in his life. All because he got close to that one girl. Maybe it would help if he didn't look at her. Just keep the door closed and play the song. But was that even really the biggest of the problems?
How was Avery going to react to a boy serenading her right outside her dorm room? Drake was quite afraid that he was about to get a foot in the face. He was quite prepared to hear continuous I hate yous from the girl. But they were friends. Even though she had rejected him and he did make the mistake of giving her a baby, the two had made up and were friends. He really hoped that singing to her like this wouldn't ruing everything and take away their friendship. At the worst, he'd get laughed at, right? Drake hoped so. Even though Drake was aiming to make Avery his, he didn't want their friendship to just disappear. That would make it a lot harder for him to get the girl.
B-4. That was it. Avery's dorm. Drake stood outside the door, taking in deep breaths to try and calm himself. This couldn't be too hard. It wasn't so much the singing he was afraid to do. He was more afraid of the outcome it would bring. Seeing into the future would help a lot right now. But that would be cheating. Drake sat himself down on the floor, crossing his legs as he pull the guitar in front of him. He pressed his back to the wall right beside Avery's door and took another few calming moments to just stare at the ceiling. He had to quit procrastinating. He gave a few testing strums to the strings before he proceeded to play the tune. He was going to get burned for this. Whatever.
Please forgive me if I seem forward But I've never been in front of anything like you Its the last place I ever thought I'd be When I woke up this morning Is it true? And that you're always this breathtaking And your smart and you're willing My God this is killing me
Tell me all the things you never said We can lie here and talk for hours in my bed
I don't have anything to hide I don't have anything Everything is not for certain I don't have anything to hide I don't have anything Everything is not for certain
The singing really was the easy part. Drake was just panicking a little on the inside over the thought of Avery breaking through that door and beating the shit out of him. Maybe there was still time to get up and run. But Drake wasn't moving. There was one part of him inside that really, really wanted to see the look on Avery's face when she realized there was a boy singing at her door. And that part of him allowed him to keep on playing the song.
You started to see right through me And I'm loving every minute of it Its like I'm born again Every time I breath in so, If you're curious, My favorite color's blue And I like to sing in the shower If you like, I'll sing to you
Song: Just in case anyone cares Take Me With You - Secondhand Serenade

Avery was indeed in the dorm, annoyed and fuming. That stupid slut.. Avery hated men like that, hated them. She couldn't stand people who took advantage of her brother. He was so innocent, naive. He didn't understand that people only wanted to use his body, hell he didn't understand any of that. That's why Avery ahs always protected him, been the only to save him from danger. The teen merely sighed, balling up the towel and chucking it at the wall. A short shower, during the late hours. That's how Avery always did things, this way no one would ever see her.
The girl sighed, flopping back on the single bed in the room. His dark brown hair was mostly dried, messy from ruffling it with the towel. Already dressed, merely in the same morning jeans and a white tee she found in one of the suitcases. Avery never even unpacked, merely had an open suitcase on the chair near the bed. Avery really wasn't much of a female in anyway, even having a male's messy habits. With a mere groan, the dark eyes closed and their mind drifted into thoughts. Mostly of James, but soon they faded to her father, adn mother, and simply back home. Things were so fuckign simple then. Here was hard...itwas a chore to hide herself, it was annoying as well. Plus she couldn't work, all her frusteration was building up lately. Of course hitting that damn desert kid in the face helped to ease most of the tension she had been feeling...
The thoughts froze, eyes opening suddenly. It was late, and very easy to hear anything. It was certainly easy to hear the singing coming from the hallway, and Avery knew that voice. The girl gave a surpised look. Silently, she listened to the words, staring at the ceiling. Though, after a whie she was on her feet and leaning against the door of her dorm, listening quietly. Well, at least she learned he had a good voice.. Still, she frowned lightly, eyes closing with a shudder. That damn idoit! What the hell was he doing?! The girl gave a low groan, muttering something about killing him.
Dispite all these thoughts though, when the girl finally opening to door, she found herself staring at Drake. She frowned lightly, a light flush at her pale face as he grabbed the boy's shirt, carefully pulling him up and into the room. Still, the girl frowned at him with a light scrowl on her face, shaking her head. "I-I can't believe you!! What if someone saw you?! Or..or.." She huffed lightly, looking away. "I should punch ya'damn lights out..." Still, despite her words, the teenager found her arms around the male's neck, hiding her flushed face in his shoulder. "..bastard"

Drake heard the door open. He wasn't too distracted by his own music to notice that. At least it meant Avery had been there after all. Unless she had a roommate or someone had broken into her room. Or maybe just a friend. But it was definitely Avery. Drake quickly found a hand at his shirt and he was willingly pulled up to his feet and forced in through the door. The whole time he wore a smirk on his face. Of course Avery wasn't going to be happy about all of it but even if all that serenading just made her mad, the look on her face would be priceless. It would be for a good cause, even if he ended up with a black eye or broken nose.
"I probably would have looked like a real dork if they'd seen me, right? Well, at least they'd know that you're mine," Drake pointed out as he put on his most innocent smile. He could play the innocent card if he needed to. Though he probably didn't need to at that moment. But Drake put up the innocent, puppy dog look constantly when it came to Avery. He didn't think she liked that look but, if it bothered her, it was just more reason for him to use it on her.
The boy took in a deep breath as he felt the arms moving around his neck and it immediately brought a smile to his lips. There wouldn't be any punching, would there? This was going better than Drake thought it would. He lowered the guitar to rest it against the door before bringing his own arms around the girl's waist, pulling her right up against him in a hug. "Do you honestly think I'm gonna believe that you'd punch my lights out? Tsk tsk, Avery... you're always talking about hitting me and you never. All bark and no bite," Drake teased her with a mischievous smirk. He knew very well that Avery could kill someone. He didn't think she'd ever kill him. Maybe hit him though. He gently tapped at his own cheek and frowned a little. "Come on, Avery. I dare you to hit me at least once."
But Drake silenced himself, wondering if he should be really asking Avery to do these things. For all he knew, she could give him a black eye or he'd end up with a second broken nose since coming here. The boy let out a deep sigh and pressed his face into the girl's hair, nuzzling at it gently. "Avery, really... you have to be at least a little happy that I did this for you, right? Come on... admit it, you like it," he asked her as he pouted a little. He was just really hoping that she'd enjoyed it. He knew his singing voice wasn't that bad and he was fully aware that he could play the guitar. But the chance that Avery wasn't into something like this was very high. But he'd done it for her. That had to at least mean something special to her.

She really wanted to hit him, to smack that smile right off his damn face. Words couldn't tell how much she hated that innocent look he gave. She found it bloody adorable and hated it so damn much. It made her want to hug the moron instead of knee him in the groin. It wasn't that Avery hated him, the farm raised child just seemed to be this way with everyone, more likely to smack then to smile. She wasn't a fool, she knew all to wlel Drake wore that look to annoy her. It wasn't like she was brillent, but because he always wore it when she was the most annoyed. He really liked to egg the girl on, something she hated but she had to admire her for. Not many were willing to stand up to her these days, she was a bit too rough for the most kiddies to handle.
The teenager gave the hint of a growl, keeps her arms around him, but let her nails dig at the back of his shoulders lightly in warning. Like hell she was going to let that bastard get away with saying that to her! She didn't lift her gaze at first, but finally tilted her head to glare at him through the mop of dark hair, annoyed at the smirk. Such a smug little brat he was. "If I hit you, then you'd cry.." She mumbled the words against his shoulders, angery that she couldn't pull away from him. She didn't want it, oddly this felt rather nice, just to relax there against him. It wasn't like she could feel teh arms around her, but she knew they were there and she imagined what they felt like. Probably warm, and judging by his frame, strong...
Alright, she could admit that it was sweet, and pretty damn cute what he did. Avery loved music, and the guitar is something she grew up hearing. Her father always tried to teach James but he would never stay still long enough.. The teenager sighed and nuzzles his neck softly before letting her arms slid away from him. She softly nodded at his question, and pulled away to turn her back to the boy; though not without stepping on his foot first, a nip back at his words. The girl kept her back to him, sighing with annoyance. Crossing her hands behind her head, Avery closed her eyes, thinking silently.
"You have some serious guts to come here at night so bravely " The confusing child paused a moment, shrugging their shoulders softly. "I just got out of the shower.. heh, your lucky I didn't waste time.. otherwise you would be singing to an empty room.. " The words died and she sat on her bed, looking up at him silently, and curiously. She didn't speak though, merely watching him before looking at the guitar, even she wasn't able to hold back a light smile on her lips.

The nails dug into his shoulders but Drake hardly seemed phased by in. Instead, he gave out a laugh and nuzzled his face into the girls hair. She amused him too much. He knew she could probably kick his ass if his back were turned. But it wouldn't be too hard for Drake to pin the girl down and gain dominance over her. He'd done it once before. He was drunk that day and he'd rather never think back to it. But the point is that he could take her down if he ever needed to. But hurting Avery again wasn't on Drake's list of to do things. He cared too much for her to harm her in any way ever again and, even if she seemed so willing to hurt him, he'd never take a chance to get revenge and hurt her back. What kind of boy would he be if he did that? He'd never get Avery in his life if he took any chance he could get for payback.
Drake rolled his eyes at the girl's words, innocently running fingers through her hair and twirling it around his fingers. "Cry? Men don't cry, Avery. How can you pretend to be a guy when you don't even know that?" the boy teased her more, pressing his lips so gently to the girl's temple. Her skin felt too soft to be a boy's. Unless they were talking about those really girly and soft boys. You know, like Avery's brother. But Avery was a farm girl, wasn't she? She probably had hard farm hands. Though that brought too many images and thoughts running through his head about how those hands would feel touching all over his skin. Drake shivered a little at his own mental images and, rather than speak what was going through his mind, he just smiled and held the girl even closer.
Drake showed disappointment in his eyes when the girl moved away from his body. He was enjoying having her so close for once. Such a shame that Avery's affection could never last very long. Maybe the affection span would increase over time. Drake could only hope. "Would you prefer if I had come here in the middle of day when everyone would have been walking around to see me sing for you...? 'Cause I didn't want to do that," he confessed with a light laugh. He hadn't cared if anyone saw him. Though he'd have been too nervous if the eyes of too many passer bys had fixed on him and their mouths had produced too many questions. Drake took a step back, crossing his arms behind his head as he lazily leaned beside the door and against the wall. "I guess I should have come sooner then. I'd have liked to see what you'd have done if I'd come singing to you while you were standing in here naked."

Avery was never a good one when it came to affection; she knew this all too well. Even her sweet brother often felt the craving need for her attention, but she always gave so little. It was just the way she was raised, the way that she knew best. The only creatures she ever gave the most affection were her horses, and even to them she held back somewhat. She couldn’t give them too much love, or else they would grow attached to her personally and they would become distressed when she had to sell them away. Resting on the bed, her dark eyes simply watching Drake silently, still not sure what to think of this boy.
He was simply so confusing. The male stood before her, staring at her with those soft eyes and the girl wasn’t really sure what she felt, the urge to punch him or to hug him. Drake said he loved her, why would he say that? She only heard such when she was very small and her mother was still there to whisper it to her when little Avery was tucked away to rest. The only time Avery remembered saying it was to her family, to her mother once during those hard days and to James often when she see’s those lovely eyes glazing over with sadness.
The light in the room was dim, lacking a window and only having a small lamp beside the desktop that was used every now and then for research. A random thought occurred to the female that her room was rather neat. Only a tattered book bag resting on the desk chair, there was really nothing in the room. The closet was bare, clothes in a suitcase tucked away under the bed. The thought of room searches annoyed her. Avery knew most of the staff already knew her gender due to her file, but she still felt uneasy leaving clothes in a closet for them to see. It wasn’t her tops or bottoms though. All were loose and baggy, hell boxers even. It was the other clothing piece in which girl’s needed to use that made her angry. Avery hated wearing the annoying piece but did anyways and layered clothing to hide it as well.
Of course at the moment she wasn’t wearing layers. Just her simple plain white tee from the day earlier, without the large hoodie she had during classes. It was only Drake though, and he already knew her real anatomy, so it was not like she really had much to hide. Though again, the tee didn’t have to hide very much anyways. The girl was not small at the chest, but the large tee did a good enough job with covering her entire torso till her baggy jeans, which did very well to hid her figure. Avery could never tell anyone how she looked in woman clothing, because she had never seen before. It was something she almost never wanted to know.
The male’s words brought a harsh red flush to her face before hissing a foul word at the male, chucking the single pillow at his head. [color=003870’”That’s.. disgustin’ pervert!
A short glare followed her words before the farm raised child let her eyes stare at the wall beside her. Avery’s head was turned away, to hide the flush from the other and give an irritated sigh. ” You are lucky I opened the dang door. I could’a left ya out there..”. Her flash of temper (though mostly embarrassment) faded swiftly and once more she turned back to the man to stare at him for a few moments, a blank look on her face, but confusion in her eyes. There was many things running through her head, what to say? Thank him for letting her hear that beautiful song? It was far from her nature. Kiss him? Tsk, that’s just what he wanted. Ignorehim? That’s just what she wanted. Instead she said nothing, merely watching him for a few more long moments. ”ya insane”[/blockquote][/blockquote] • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • TAG - sayDRAKE?
