It was a long pause as she sat down, smoothing the skirt out so it wasn’t wrinkled. The dress was a dark color, blending in well with the background, which she wanted to do so that no one would notice and assume everything was being provided by someone else. It was a way to keep herself occupied and doing something she loved as well as able to listen to feed back from others.[/color]
The dress fit her well, an off the shoulder gown in black that made her look almost ethereal and her hair was done in loose ringlets with just a little bit of make-up on, mostly a bit of silver around her eyes, making them glow against the darkness of the dress. She’d reflected that in her mirror she felt like she was some sort of painting, reflecting the darkness inside her onto the outside with the little bit of goodness as well. It was an idle, half formed thought that she didn’t push to far to develop fully.
Blake ducked her head down before she left the room, darting around the longer ways as she avoided as many students as possible. She just didn’t really want to be contacted by someone while she was in an evening gown. If things went as she wanted, the piano and harp would be behind a screen so that people couldn’t see who was playing. She preferred that much, even though most of the students knew she played, but a few didn’t and she’d prefer that people didn’t come up and request songs.
Chewing her lower lip briefly, she made her way into the room, behind everyone and slipped along the walls, heading to the ornate screen that discreetly hid the piano and grand harp that were set up. She managed to sit down without being noticed, and let her fingers wander over the keys of the piano before beginning a simple melody, one that was a bit upbeat but not loud, more one that would encourage conversation and mingling. Dancing belonged to the other musicians, unless it was a classical dance. Those she could play.
Smiling lightly, she closed her eyes and let her fingers wander over the keys, each note perfect and pristine as she let the music flow through the room, weaving its own spell through out the students. She didn’t know anyone who would be here, and even if she did, Blake was fairly certain no one would be bothered with her. Depressing, but possibly true, considering how she viewed the world.
The music never dropped from the light tempo and its fantasy spell that was being woven through the room, but she didn’t mind her own thoughts. It was something she was used to and didn’t affect her musical abilities. Everything went well for her most of the time as she wasn’t too bothered by her thoughts as things were relatively stable at the moment. But she was here now to have a good time, even if that meant her normally shy self didn’t change.
