Elly was never one for Spring and all it's festivities; everything was too bright, too joyful, and, worst of all, surrounded by her religion. The last time she had willingly gone to an Easter service had been when she was around six. Sure the service itself was boring and Lent was pure torture (she'd been made to give up many of her favorite things over the years), but it was the feeling of togetherness that she felt with her family that made it all worth while. However she realized the year later that the only reason she went was because her parents didn't want to look bad in front of their neighbors.
You couldn't very well leave the unwanted child at home when you brought the others, could you?
In any case, that wasn't the whole reason she disliked Spring--though it was a big part--no, the big one was this: the snow always melted. Winter had always been her favorite season--the flowers and grass going into remission for months at a time while animals and birds either migrated or hibernated so that this white wonderland was eerily quiet and peaceful. She would spend hours on end in the snow, childishly packing snowballs to attack people with and making angels. Sometimes she would just sit on a bench and watch the snowflakes fall and try to catch as many as she could with her tongue. The Winter was her time, and no one disputed that when it rolled around every year.
But when all that beautiful, white snow melted? Elly became dispondent for weeks. No one noticed because she was usually so chipper anyways, even when sad, but she didn't talk to anyone as animatedly as usual. Most of the time she was outside anyways enjoying her season for as long as she could until the last bit of snow had melted away and given way to Spring, just like now.
The blonde scowled at the sunny sky and shook a fist at it. "Th's all yer fault!" she muttered darkly.
