It was a comparatively nice day out and she had taken to sitting out in the gardens, by the labyrinth that someone had created. It was a meditative area and relatively out of the way. Here the flowers were taller and not as well tended, except for by a few students. The area was cleared seeing as most of the students were inside, away from the chilling air, but the tiny girl relished being outside and would stay out until the last possible moment before darting in and staying to herself.
The tiny Hawaiian girl looked up at the sky, watching a few clouds drift around lazily and snuggled further back into the trunk of the tree she was leaning against, wedging herself between the roots and becoming invisible until you were practically on top of her. Or actually trying to find her. It had become a new hidey hole and she was content to keep it that way, hiding from everyone when she needed a moment. A few certain ones knew of the majority of her hidey holes but this one she was determined to keep a secret for as long as possible.
A light sigh passed over her lips before she smiled up at the sun, humming at first under her breath but soon quietly singing a prayer that she had learned back in Hawaii in her native tongue. The notes arrived smoothly and clearly, showing that talent did not only lie in her fingers, but also her voice. It was a soothing sound to her and she was content to sing by herself. She hadn’t sung for anyone in a long, long time.
Blake paused momentarily and unwound a long strip of cloth from her arm, adjusting it to hide the bruises on her arms from all the incessant playing she’d done. The cloth covered from elbow to the tips of her fingers, showing that she hadn’t just been playing piano, but also harp and violin, drums and flute as well. She was still skinny but not as dangerously as she had been, proving that she was bouncing back and forth between her suicidal urgings and being relatively normal.
The thoughts never really crossed her that she was normal or that it would be bad for her to die, there were days when she just didn’t care and couldn’t stand her emotions anymore so she regressed to the mindset of a small child. However, this was not one of those times.
The girl was calm and relatively happy to be outside as well as to meet a few new people. Deep inside, she felt these new acquaintances wouldn’t last long being around her, they would move on to other people, more normal ones or prettier ones or smarter ones…just better people than she was. At the moment though, she was content with life and what it had to offer.
